Violet Vanilla
2022.
Paper, acrylic.
Violet Vanilla embodies the oneness between self and home. Taking inspiration from Gaston Bachelard’s belief that we are diagrams of the functions of inhabiting out home, this pieces navigates the memory of how we relive our home of origin throughout our own narratives. The automatic processes of expressing in the embodied method of finger-painting brings forth the autoethnographic communication from the unconscious and the boundaries that seperate our self from the contextualising non-self.
When looking upon our home, Violet Vanilla asks “Where do I end and you begin?” Is it possible to seperate the two or will they live on eternally, one within the other and the other within one?
